Comet Burgers in Royal Oak

Decided to raise my stars of the place since I only gave it 2 stars originally. Due to visit before the last the food did not taste good. But I tried a few more times and it was a lot better. I only had one bad experience so I will give them a benefit of a doubt that it might of been a off day for the cook or something. And not the normal there

Fries & motz sticks are amazing!!! Burgers were meh - definitely recommend it slider style vs a “normal” burger size. Service was kind and food came out fairly quickly

What a great place. The people here are SO friendly! My boyfriend and I came in 10 minutes to close without realizing and they served us with a smile. Once I realized of course I asked for a box so I could get out of their way and they encouraged us to stay. (I still grabbed my box. I worked in food service so I know they were trying to get home. Lol) they even let us wait inside after close while we waited for our Uber. The food was also super good. Such a fun little diner. Would definitely recommend.

I love their burgers here. I like to walk around Royal Oak and then come here for some nice Comet Burgers. The servers are very friendly. On accident, I spilled my drink on the table and by my burger and he offered me a new one. I just love how you can watch them cook your food if you sit at the bar. I would highly recommend Comet burger if you want a nice, delicious, burger.

My wife said it best "I just love this place more and more every time I come"I'm continually amazed at the value, service, and food of this wonderful establishment.

Can you say, best darn burger place around!!! Food is awesome; staff is awesome; atmosphere is awesome. If you've never stopped in, do so. You won't regret it.

Greasy goodness! This place is a good TREAT every once-in-awhile! And it's a Royal Oak legend!

Used to love coming here after the Wine Stroll or pub crawls through Royal Oak. Unfortunately yesterday the owner's son rudely told my friends and I to be quiet while he was using the phone while cooking. The music was loud and there were many people sitting at the counter. We just happened to be across from the grill. His tone was abrasive and inappropriate. When I spoke with the owner, I was told that, "I'm sorry, he has problems. There's nothing I can do." I spoke to the son directly and told him that his tone was out of line, and had he approached us differently, I wouldn't be as upset. Then I was told I wasn't the only customer in the building. Clearly. Since I'm such a hassle, I will find another burger joint. Should be easy since there's many places to enjoy in Royal Oak. Such a shame since I love to support small businesses.

A place to go for inexpensive burgers and other similar food. Portion sizes are respectable, and the chili cheese fries are good. Almost thought I was at a Coney place when I tasted them. Priced right, so bring your friends.

Haven't been here in a while and came back for a bite. Same great taste as before and same owners as before. Sometimes keeping everything the same is just what you need!

Food and prices are great! Have stopped in a few times. Recently tried a milkshake and was not disappointed. Great spot to try if your ever downtown royal oak.

Whenever I'm walking around downtown Royal Oak, I try to stop in at Comet Burger. They have fantastic sliders and chili cheese fries, the staff it's friendly, and the food is cooked to perfection each time. The prices are great too - I never leave broke or hungry. I finally was able to take my friends here a couple days ago, and they understood why I always talk about it. If you're a fan of sliders, or just really good and affordable for, this is the place for you.

Stopped in before a show. This is very cool retro restaurant. They have awesome milkshakes, great sliders and fries. They also serve a good variety of sandwiches. They offer a number of different types of fries. Our food was served up fast and there was nothing left once we were done (it was good). They don't have tables that seat more than a few people, so we ate at the counter. If you are in the area, stop in.

Not the most attractive place but the burgers are amazing! Cooked perfectly, seasoned nicely and the ingredients are fresh!

Man o man..I freaking love this place, they have everything from sliders to Philly steaks ice cream and milkshakes. My new spot for sure. Will be returning soon

Great food for a very reasonable place. Love that they have vegetarian burgers for me when we get my husband his monster burger. He's happy because they have options for diet pop instead of the usual Diet Coke only at most other places. Win win for both of us.

This is a great little hole in the wall burger joint! They make the best sliders I have had in a long time and the seasoned waffle fries were both delicious! The way we found this place was looking for a quick bite to eat before going to a comedy show. It was a Friday night with less than a half-hour to showtime. We were greeted right away got a seat at the bar and ordered within minutes. I would recommend this place for good food with quick service!

They're know for their burgers, and they also have turkey burgers. There are nothing but bars around and this joint has good bar food so you can definitely sober up here. The Boston Cooler was GREAT!!

Below average sliders, above average onion rings, really good prices. If you're drunk I think this is a good option. If you're out looking for lunch, probably skip this place.

Great retro atmosphere, steamed buns, onions and perfectly cooked beef make for a fantastic slider. Whenever were even close we make the trip out for lunch

The food(literally everything on the menu) is always amazing, the employees are always nice, sometimes its challenging to find parking because it's in Royal oak however, I wish they could update the restaurant in the inside with new chairs and etc...

it's affordable, cozy, and is reminiscent of a better time. i hope we never have to see it put out of business, like many other places that made royal oak unique over the years. don't birmingham royal oak. keep places like this in business.

The slider came out as easy as it went in and the fries were good. Had a milk shake and it was good. Cool vibe. Last of the Mohicans in a gentrified area. A bit of alcohol before you visit would most likely enhance the experience.

If you want the best food in Town , Comet Burgers is the best place to go for A Burger , Chicken Sandwich etc I'm glad they are back open

Comet Burgers is one of my favorite diners to go to in Royal Oak. I really like the 80's diner vibe in the atmosphere and reinforced with the long bar that stretches from one end of the restaurant to the other.My order included the Jalapeño Peppers along with the Grilled Chicken Sandwich. I have a special type of weakness for deep fired jalapeño peppers stuffed with cream cheese. It is the perfect way to get my taste buds celebrating! The grilled chicken sandwich here is on point. It is topped just the way I like it, and it is satisfying.The service here is always amazing. The waitress is extremely nice and on top of her game. The cooks and manager/owner are also incredibly nice. The employees here are well rounded people and it helps make a pleasant experience.
